Raíces: From Publishing Dreams to a Home for Latinx Literature

Raíces began with nothing but a dream, a deep love of literature, and a fire to make our stories visible. It started as a grassroots publishing company—an effort to get the voices of nuestra gente out into the world, on our own terms. We weren’t waiting for permission. We were writing, printing, and publishing stories that mattered.

But like many beautiful things, Raíces evolved.

From publishing, it grew into a bookish merch brand—playful, bold, and full of cultural pride. We designed shirts, candles, and bundles for the readers who never felt seen, for the bilingual dreamers, for the smut readers who code-switch, and for everyone who understands that literature and identity are deeply intertwined.

Now, Raíces has become something even fuller. We’re proud to be a space where books by Latinx authors are not the exception—they are the foundation. Our store offers everything from children’s stories to contemporary fiction, memoirs, poetry, and more. Every book we carry is written by a Latinx author. Every item we offer is rooted in cultura, comunidad, and corazón.

Growing up, my parents didn’t spoil me with toys or clothes—but they never denied me books. Literature was my escape, my mirror, and eventually, my map. That deep appreciation for reading was planted in me early on, and it’s what fuels Raíces today.

This is more than a business. It’s a love letter to our stories, our roots, and our right to be seen.
